EUROSOUL 2026 IN FRIULI, ITALY:
“BROTHERHOOD WITHOUT BORDERS”
Eurosoul 26 extends an open-hearted invitation to experience the essence of true hospitality and brotherhood as we seek together how we might better embody a warm, generous and practical relationship – both with ourselves and with others.
Hospitality means more than just a simple invitation sent by a “host” or to be just welcomed as a “guest”, no matter how kindly. Hospitality, for us, will be to meaningfully experience the deepening sense of male friendship and belonging, to be found while actively seeking brotherhood.
In the spirit of brotherhood, we will meet again this year in the mountains of Friuli, NE Italy. Here, we also want to actively seek, experience, and learn about this region, where just over 100 years ago young men from all over Europe were forced to wage war against each other. Today, a place where enmity, suffering, and death once prevailed, will be a place of encounter, and of receiving the other.
We are all invited to experience ourselves both as “guest and host”, as we help in creating spaces that support a “sincere spirit of inquiry” – supported by the enveloping nature that will surround us, the magnificent food we will cook, the stories we will tell and the joyfulness of being in the company of good men.
Without a guest there is no host
Without the host, no guest.
Only strangers.
And now … here’s a bit on the origins of Eurosoul.
EUROSOUL: A CALL FOR BROTHERHOOD
History
The roots of Eurosoul go back to that time when we had to begin to learn how to navigate our course without the steadying hand of Richard Rohr always being on the tiller. Disappointingly but not surprisingly, we found ourselves drifting towards dangerous waters that required other strong and steady hands to steer us back on course. This initially resulted in the signing of the “Covenant”, which formalises the agreed relationships between countries. Subsequently, an International Council was also formed to help sustain and deepen this process. However, in earlier conversations it had been determined that a European focus was also needed to help these new arrangements prosper.
Inception
In 2017 we held our first Eurosoul in Germany and have done so each year since then – apart from the Covid year (when it was held online). We have now also rooted our work in the Czech Republic, Scotland, Ireland, Latvia – and this year, for the first time, we will be in Italy. Initially, our aim was just to encourage and enable an appreciation of the wider brotherhood. We quickly agreed that this could only be meaningfully achieved if we made establishing friendships our primary concern. Therefore, the first years were patiently given over to this process, both when we met together in person, or at our regular European on-line meetings.
The Present
With the foundations now securely in place, we continue to seek the means by which brotherhood can be enabled and community achieved. Together, we continue to actively network connections and always seek new opportunities where our work might deepen or take root. Guided always by a deepening appreciation of the rich cultural heritage that connects us all and sustained by the friendships that give the shape and meaning to our work.

Transport:
Nearest airports are Venice Marco Polo International and Venice-Treviso (where most low-companies fly to). Both airports are within relatively easy reach of a train station: Venezia-Mestre for Venice-Marco Polo, and Treviso Centrale for Venice-Treviso. Both stations are on the Venice-Udine-Tarvisio-Vienna mainline, where you can board a train to Udine. Some companies also fly to Trieste-Ronchi dei Legionari airport; if you fly there, take the shuttle bus to Monfalcone station and then board a train to Udine.
The nearest train station to the venue is Gemona del Friuli, which is served by local services from Udine or Tarvisio. Fast train services will stop at Udine; you will have to then take a regional train to Gemona (direction Tarvisio); they are quite frequent and leave on average every 45mins/1h. We will organize a pick-up service from Gemona train station.
Contact and registration: For registration, please use the following email address: eurosoul_2026@gmx.net. Please indicate your name, address, and contact data (E-Mail, mobile phone number). Please let us know if you need pick-up service from Gemona, and at what time you plan to arrive. In you are travelling by car, please let us know if you can provide a pickup service, so that we can arrange a car-pooling system.
Cost: 210 Euro covers all food and accommodation (230 Euro if you plan to stay until Monday).
Please transfer the participation fee to the bank account of „mannsein.at„. Swift/BIC Code: BKAUATWWXXX – IBAN Code: AT52 12000 10022876832 by August 15th, 2026.
We want this gathering to be inclusive; thus, if you need financial assistance, let us know. Please also pay a little more if you can support others who may need help. Every effort has been made to reduce costs – the fee will only just allow us to break even (hopefully!).
Food: We will prepare our food ourselves; thus, your cooperation in the kitchen will be appreciated but is not compulsory – apart from washing up! If there are some items you wish to bring for sharing – especially if they are typical from your region/county, feel free to bring them – but again, there is no obligation. If you do, be mindful that we will be a large number of men and this would need to be thought of and shared as a special treat, not a main part of a meal. If in doubt, please ask.
Accommodation: shared rooms for 3-5 people, each with their individual bathroom. Please bring your own bedding if you have it – otherwise it can be bought on site for 5 Euro. Extra info on other items to bring will be provided closer to the date. There is the possibility to camp for about 5 tents.
